Typing Accuracy Explained
Accuracy is correct accepted keystrokes divided by total accepted keystrokes. TIPING does not count untyped timed-test text as mistakes, so the score reflects what you actually entered.
Accuracy Formula
Accuracy = (correct keystrokes / total keystrokes) x 100. For example, if you type 95 correct characters and 5 incorrect ones, your accuracy is (95 / 100) x 100 = 95%.
How to Improve Accuracy
- Slow down: Type at 80% of your max speed and aim for 99% accuracy.
- Keep your eyes on the screen: Watch the text, not your fingers.
- Practice problem keys: Use weak key practice to target your hardest keys.
- Use proper posture: Sit up straight with wrists floating above the keyboard.
